Hey all, a lot of people seemed to really enjoy my makeup post so today I decided to write about three hair products that have seriously changed my life.
I have curly hair, but not that cute curly hair that some people have. No, I have annoying curls with at least three different curl patterns. My top layer of hair is wavy at best. Then, underneath, I have a mixture of spiral curls and zig-zag curls (forget the technical terms).
For years, I dealt with frizzy, uncontrollable hair. As I got older, some of my hair problems worked themselves out, but I still wasn’t comfortable wearing my hair down naturally, and it takes forever to straighten or “curl.” Finally, in college, I realized lots of girls wore their natural hair down and it looked great regardless of the texture. So I started doing my research.
1. Bumble and Bumbles Hairdresser’s Invisible Oil
The first thing I was introduced to was Bumble and Bumbles Hairdresser’s Invisible Oil. I first learned about this product through one of my favorite writer’s blog. Admittedly, it’s expensive and I originally had a hard to purchasing it, but I realized it was an investment and I took the plunge. Let me tell you, it was worth it! It’s lasted me years (I’m still on my first bottle of it), it smells great, and it works great at decreasing frizz and increasing shine. If you’re not ready to take the plunge, there are lots of other affordable options as well. I also use Garnier’s Triple Nutrition Marvelous Oil.
2. OGX’s Coconut Curls Shampoo and Conditioner
After I did some reading, I realized that some ingredients were better for my hair and some were worse. I started reading up on shampoos that were recommended for my hair, and I happened across OGX’s Quenching Coconut Curls Shampoo and Conditioner. Coming from a family with a ton of girls, paying $7.99 for a small bottle of shampoo seemed pretty steep, but I realized that it works great and by myself, it actually lasts for awhile. It also made brushing my hair so much easier and my curls came through so well after I used it.
3. Not Your Mother’s Naturals Tahitian Gardenia Flower & Mango Butter Curl Defining Combing Cream
So my mom brought this product home for my little sister. She has rocking curls, but needs products for them too. I also happen to love mango so when I saw that on the bottle, I knew I had to try it out. And I did, and I loved it. Not Your Mother’s Naturals Tahitian Gardenia Flower and Mango Butter comes in at a smooth $8.99 and it’s worth every penny. Oh my gosh, my curls looked so great the first time that I used this that I went out and bought my own bottle of it.
Ok, so these are three hair products that changed my life and made me love my natural curls. After using these products, my hair looks pretty down. I don’t worry about frizz or weird multi-level curls. Got any go-to hair products? Any suggestions? Let me know!
